[Wu-studierende] Lernräume und -flächen am Campus/Studying on the new campus

Liebe Studierende,

diese Woche ist bereits die erste Lernwoche des WS 13/14, die Oktober-Prüfungswoche rückt näher. Deshalb möchten wir Ihnen aktuelle Informationen zu den Lernräumen und –flächen am Campus geben und auf ein paar zentrale Punkte hinweisen:


•         Ab Montag, 30.09.2013, ist die Bibliothek am neuen Campus für Sie geöffnet. Damit können Sie nicht nur auf deren Lernressourcen zugreifen, sondern auch die rund 1.500 Arbeitsplätze des Bibliotheksbereichs im LC für das Selbststudium nutzen. Das OMV Bibliothekszentrum am neuen Campus ist diese Woche (Lernwoche) von Mo-So für Sie zugänglich: Mo-Fr von 8.00 bis 22.00 Uhr, Sa und So von 9.00 bis 18.00 Uhr.


•         Die ersten PC-Übungsräume sind ebenfalls bereits in Betrieb. Im UG 1 des Teaching Centers steht ein Raum mit 50 PC-Arbeitsplätzen zur Verfügung, im UG 1 des Library & Learning Centers ein weiterer Raum mit 23 PC-Arbeitsplätzen. Diese sind 7 Tage die Woche (7.00 bis 24.00  Uhr) für Sie geöffnet. Die weiteren PC-Schulungsräume am Campus können abseits der darin stattfindenden Lehrveranstaltungen ebenfalls für individuelles Lernen und Üben genutzt werden.


•        Projekträume für Gruppenarbeiten oder gemeinsames Lernen können Sie über das Online-Buchungstool „Rooms“ reservieren: http://www.wu.ac.at/students/org/services/rooms
In diesem Zusammenhang möchten wir auf die Buchungs- und Nutzungsbedingungen verweisen (http://www.wu.ac.at/students/org/services/rules) und insbesondere darauf hinweisen, dass die Nutzung von Projekträumen ohne Buchung ausnahmslos nicht gestattet ist. Die Einhaltung der Buchungs- und Nutzungsbestimmungen wird in den kommenden Wochen intensiv kontrolliert werden. Sollten Sie sich ohne entsprechende Buchung in einem Projektraum aufhalten, müssen Sie mit dem dauerhaften Entzug Ihrer Buchungsberechtigung rechnen.

Reminder Update Studierendenausweis!
Noch bis 11. Oktober stehen von Mo-Fr zwischen 9.00 und 17.00 Uhr am Infodesk im Forum des LC Codierstationen und Evaluierungsleser für das „Update“ Ihres Studierendenausweises zur Verfügung. Es müssen alle sich in Umlauf befindenden Ausweise aktualisiert werden, um einige Services des neuen Campus (z.B. Zugang Bibliotheken, Buchung Projekträume, Nutzung Spinde) in Anspruch nehmen zu können. Über die Möglichkeiten des Updates nach dem 11. Oktober werden wir Sie in den nächsten Tagen informieren.

Wichtiger Hinweis: Am Freitag, dem 04. Oktober 2013, ist der Infodesk im Forum des LC aufgrund der Eröffnungsfeierlichkeiten nicht besetzt und es ist somit auch kein Update der Ausweise möglich!

Dear students,

This week is already the first exam prep week of the 2013/14 winter semester, and the October exam week is coming up fast. To help you prepare, we would like to provide some current information on the study rooms and spaces on campus and point out a few important aspects:


·         The library opens for students on Monday, September 30, 2013. Books, media, learning materials and approximately 1,500 working places are available in the main library in the LC. During the study week, the OMV Library Center will be open 7 days a week: from Monday to Friday between 8:00am and 10:00pm, and on Saturdays and Sundays between 9:00am and 6:00pm.


·         The first PC labs are also already open. A lab in the basement of the Teaching Center offers 50 workstations, and a second one in the basement of the Library & Learning Center has 23 workstations. They are open 7 days a week (7:00am to midnight). Additional PC labs on campus are also open for individual studying whenever classes are not in session there.


·         Project rooms for group work and group studying can be reserved online via the electronic booking system “Rooms”: https://bach.wu.ac.at/d/accounts/login/?next=/d/rr/students/

      Please read the terms and conditions for reserving and using project rooms carefully (http://www.wu.ac.at/students/en/org/services/rules). In particular, we would like to emphasize that the use of project rooms without a prior reservation is not permitted at any time. During the next few weeks, the rooms will be monitored extensively to ensure that they are not being abused. If you are observed using a project room without a reservation your booking privileges may be revoked.


Reminder: update your student ID card!
Coding stations and evaluation readers are located at the information desk in the Library & Learning Center (LC) until October 11, and are available from Monday to Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm. All student ID cards in circulation must be updated in order to use some of the new services on campus (accessing the libraries, booking project rooms, using lockers). We will be sending out information about opportunities to update your card after October 11 withing the next few days.

Important information: On Friday, October 4th 2013, there is no service at the information desk in the LC due to the campus opening celebration.
