[Wu-studierende] Frohe Feiertage & Ausblick auf Angebote zum Thema KI im Studium / Happy holidays & outlook on offers on the topic of AI in studies

Liebe Studierende,

bevor die Weihnachtsferien zu einer wohlverdienten Pause einladen, möchte ich euch mit einem Thema adressieren, das die WU in den letzten Monaten intensiv beschäftigt hat: Künstliche Intelligenz.

KI dringt in zahlreiche Bereiche unseres Lebens ein, die universitäre Forschung und Lehre sind davon nicht ausgenommen. Wir haben für euch die wichtigsten Infos zum Thema KI im Studium<https://www.wu.ac.at/studierende/campus/code-of-conduct/ki-im-studium/> zusammengefasst. Ein regelmäßiger Blick darauf lohnt sich!

Um euch bei der Nutzung von KI-Tools zu unterstützen, bietet die WU Bibliothek<https://library.wu.ac.at/bib/fit4research/index.php/fit4research-start/wu-katalog-google-scholar-co-deine-tools-fuer-die-suche/ki-tools/> Kurse zum Thema KI an (siehe Kursübersicht<https://www.wu.ac.at/bibliothek/beratung/kurse/>). Im Expert*innen-Interview<https://blog.wu.ac.at/2023/12/ki-im-studium/> könnt ihr nachlesen, wie sich KI auf das Studieren und euren universitären Alltag auswirken kann. Ich freue mich darauf, den Weg der digitalen Transformation gemeinsam mit euch zu gehen.


Last but not least möchte ich euch noch ein paar Hinweise für Jänner 2024 mitgeben:

  *   Die Rückmeldefrist<https://www.wu.ac.at/studierende/studienorganisation/rueckmeldung/> für das Sommersemester 2024 startet am 08. Jänner und endet am 31. März. Innerhalb dieses Zeitraumes müsst ihr die Fortsetzung eures Studiums melden. Zahlt dafür den ÖH- bzw. Studienbeitrag<https://www.wu.ac.at/studierende/studienorganisation/studienbeitrag-oeh-beitrag/> ein, damit es zu keiner Schließung eures Studiums/eurer Studien kommt.
  *   Volunteering at WU: Ihr wollt euch neben dem Studium sozial engagieren? Dann bewerbt euch bis 14.01.2024 als Lern-, Musik- oder Sportbuddy<https://www.wu.ac.at/studierende/mein-studium/bachelorguide/foerderprogramme/volunteering/lmsch/> für Kinder und Jugendliche!

  *   Das Student Counselling bietet wieder interessante Wellbeing-Angebote<https://www.wu.ac.at/studierende/mein-studium/bachelorguide/foerderprogramme/student-counselling/aktivitaetenkalender-wintersemester-2023/> zu den Themen Fokus & Konzentration sowie Motivation im Studium an.

Dear students,

before your well-deserved winter break begins, I would like to address a topic that has occupied WU a lot in recent months: Artificial Intelligence.

AI is entering numerous areas of our lives, and university research as well as teaching are no exception. We have summarized the most important information on the topic of "AI in your studies<https://www.wu.ac.at/en/students/wu-campus/code-of-conduct/ai-and-your-academic-practice/>" for you. It's worth checking in regularly!

In order to support you in using AI tools, the WU Library<https://library.wu.ac.at/bib/fit4research/index.php/en/fit4research-english/wu-catalog-google-scholar-and-more/ai-tools/> offers courses on AI (see course overview<https://www.wu.ac.at/en/library/consultation/library-workshops/>). In an expert interview<https://blog.wu.ac.at/2023/12/ki-im-studium/> you can read how AI may affect your studies and everyday academic life. I look forward to walking the path of digital transformation together with you.

Last but not least, I would like to give you a few tips for January 2024:

  *   The re-registration period<https://www.wu.ac.at/en/students/administrative-information/semester-re-registration-unenrollment-from-wu/> for the summer semester 2024 starts on January 8 and ends on March 31. Make sure to pay ÖH dues (and your tuition fees, if applicable)<https://www.wu.ac.at/en/students/administrative-information/tuition-fees-students-union-oeh-dues/> to continue your studies.
  *   Volunteering at WU: Would you like to get involved in social work alongside your studies? Then apply before January 14, 2024 as a learning, music or sports buddy<https://www.wu.ac.at/studierende/mein-studium/bachelorguide/foerderprogramme/volunteering/lmsch/> for children and young people!
  *   Student Counseling is once again providing interesting wellbeing offers<https://www.wu.ac.at/en/students/my-program/bachelors-student-guide/volunteering-support-and-honors-programs/student-counselling/calendar-of-activities-2-1/> on the topics of focus, concentration and motivation during your studies.
