[Wu-studierende] Update: Coronavirus Informationen und Empfehlungen / Update: Information & recommendations regarding the Corona virus

Liebe Studierende der WU,
die Sicherheit und Gesundheit aller WU-Angehörigen ist uns ein großes Anliegen und es ist daher selbstverständlich, dass wir die Entwicklungen im Zusammenhang mit dem nun auch in Europa zunehmend auftretenden Coronavirus (COVID-19) genau verfolgen.
Unser Bestreben ist es hierbei, ein höchstes Ausmaß an Vorsicht walten zu lassen und alle verfügbaren Informationen weiterzugeben, dabei aber gleichzeitig auch möglichst rational und unaufgeregt mit der Situation umzugehen.
Die WU folgt hierbei den Anweisungen und Empfehlungen der österreichischen Behörden und der Weltgesundheitsorganisation. Auf dieser Grundlage bitten wir um besondere Berücksichtigung folgender Hinweise:
I) Bei kürzlich erfolgten Aufenthalten in Gebieten mit erhöhtem Infektionsrisiko (siehe Reisewarnungen des Außenministeriums<https://www.bmeia.gv.at/reise-aufenthalt/reisewarnungen/>) oder bei engem Kontakt mit einem bestätigten Corona-Fall Patienten

-          Nehmen Sie bitte während der ersten 14 Tage nach Rückkehr aus diesen Gebieten bzw. nach engem Kontakt mit einem bestätigten Corona-Fall Patienten nicht an Lehrveranstaltungen teil. Sie werden darüber hinaus ersucht ihre sozialen Kontakte freiwillig stark zu reduzieren.

II) Allgemein bei Auftreten von typischen Symptomen wie Fieber, Husten, Atembeschwerden:

-          Bleiben Sie bitte zu Hause und kontaktieren Sie die Gesundheitshotline 1450 zur Klärung Ihrer gesundheitlichen Situation.

Sollte eine dieser beiden Situationen auf Sie zutreffen und Sie dadurch LV-Einheiten versäumen, melden Sie sich bitte umgehend und rechtzeitig (d.h. vor den jeweiligen LV-Einheiten) bei den betreffenden Lehrveranstaltungsleiter/inne/n mit entsprechend nachvollziehbarer Glaubhaftmachung des Grundes Ihrer Abwesenheit.

In diesen Fällen erfolgt bei prüfungsimmanenten Lehrveranstaltung keine Abmeldung von der Lehrveranstaltung. Über allfällige Ersatzleistungen für die Dauer Ihrer Abwesenheit informiert Sie die/der Lehrveranstaltungsleiter/in.

III) Alle Studierende bitten wir weiterhin die allgemeinen Hygienemaßnahmen zur Vorbeugung zu beachten:

-          Waschen Sie Ihre Hände regelmäßig und gründlich.

-          Bedecken Sie Mund und Nase mit einem Papiertaschentuch (nicht mit den Händen), wenn Sie husten oder niesen

-          Entsorgen Sie das Papiertaschentuch umgehend und waschen Sie danach Ihre Hände

-          Vermeiden Sie direkten Kontakt zu erkrankten Menschen

Wichtig ist es jetzt insbesondere durch entsprechende Präventionsmaßnahmen eine Ausbreitung des Coronavirus möglichst einzudämmen. Sollten weitere Maßnahmen erforderlich werden, informieren wir Sie natürlich umgehend.

Dear students,
The health and safety of our WU community is of utmost importance to us and we are continuing to monitor all developments related to the Corona virus (COVID-19) closely, as it is now also occurring increasingly in Europe.
While exercising the greatest degree of caution and passing on all available information, we also want to deal with the situation as rationally and calmly as possible.
WU is complying with all instructions and recommendations issued by the Austrian authorities and the World Health Organization. Based on these guidelines, we ask that you take special note of the following:
I) Students who have recently stayed in areas with an increased risk of infection (see travel warnings issued by the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs<https://www.bmeia.gv.at/reise-aufenthalt/reisewarnungen/> - link in German) or who have been in close proximity to a confirmed Corona case

-          Please do not attend any courses during the first 14 days after returning from these areas or after you have been in close proximity to a confirmed Corona case. Moreover, we ask you not to visit any public areas and to voluntarily reduce your social contacts to the absolute minimum.

II) Students showing symptoms like fever, trouble breathing, respiratory issues, or coughing:

-          Please remain at home and contact the health service hotline 1450 to seek clarification about your health status and receive further instructions.

Should you have to miss classes for the reasons mentioned above, please contact the relevant course instructors immediately (i.e. before the start of the course units). Please inform the instructors about your situation and provide some evidence to justify your absence.

In these cases, you will not be dropped from the course(s) and the attendance policy will not apply for the duration of your justified absence. The course instructor may ask you to hand in alternative assignments during your absence.

III) All students are requested to comply with the following hygiene measures to help prevent the further spread of the virus:

-          Wash your hands regularly and thoroughly

-          Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or the inside of your elbow when you cough or sneeze, dispose of the tissue as soon as possible, and then wash your hands

-          Avoid contact with infected persons who have a high temperature and a cough
