extension!

Dear WRSA Members and Friends,
I'm sure no one saw this coming. As in past years, we are extending the
WRSA paper submission deadline for this year's meeting, our 56th, in
Santa Fe, New Mexico (February 15-18, 2017). The final deadline will be
*November 18*, following the North American Meeting of the RSAI in
Minneapolis. That date will be our _hard_ deadline for papers, to allow
time for manuscript review and preliminary program preparation.
If your paper is ready to submit, please do go ahead and upload it on
the WRSA website <http://www.wrsaonline.org/newsite/>. However, for
those in need of the extra time to get their papers polished (or
completed), we're happy to be able to offer a few weeks of extra
breathing room.
With regard to travel arrangements for the meeting, now is the time!
Especially for those hoping to fly in to the Santa Fe airport, earlier
booking will likely result in cheaper airfares. The La Fonda
<http://www.lafondasantafe.com>, our meeting hotel, is also already
accepting room reservations. See below for details.
*- Paper Submission:* Papers should be uploaded to the WRSA website
<http://www.wrsaonline.org/newsite/> by *November 18*. Remember that
program invitations are only issued on the basis of full papers, not
abstracts or outlines. Draft papers are sufficient for the November
deadline, so long as we have a complete version in hand by the end of
the year.
*- Hotel Reservations: *The La Fonda <http://www.lafondasantafe.com> is
already accepting reservations under our room block. Our negotiated room
rate is an excellent $149/night, plus applicable taxes. The La Fonda has
agreed to honor our room rate, pending availability, three days pre- and
post-meeting. After *January 13, 2017*, the hotel is no longer obliged
to honor our negotiated rate. Rooms may be reserved via this link

or by calling 800-523-5002 <tel:800-523-5002> and referencing the
Western Regional Science Association.
*- Student Conference Assistants:* WRSA is seeking several students to
assist with meeting registration in Santa Fe. In exchange for 8-10 hours
of volunteering at the registration desk, students will receive a
complete rebate of their preregistration fees (worth $150, to be
processed as a refund following the meeting). Contact
rachel_franklin at brown.edu <mailto:rachel_franklin at brown.edu> if you're
interested.
*- Session Chairs and Paper Discussants: *If you’re planning to come to
Santa Fe and won’t be presenting a paper, we are always VERY happy to
assign you session chair or paper discussant duties, if you’re willing.
Just drop us an email to let us know your preferences and availability
constraints.
All the best,
Rachel
