The Association for Integrity and Responsible Leadership in Economics is
offering another one of its full-day training seminars in Chicago on
Sunday, January 8, 2017. The seminar is independent of the annual
meetings of the Allied Social Science Association (ASSA), but it will be
easy for people to attend it who are already attending the ASSA
conference (especially since the ASSA conference ends early on that
day). The seminar takes place about four blocks away from the main
conference hotel, in the magnificent Chicago Cultural Center. Space will
also be made available for people to store their bags if they are
traveling immediately after the seminar. (The cost is $95, or $50 for
students.)
The same seminar was held in February 2016, in Washington D.C., the day
before the annual meetings of the Eastern Economic Association. It was
endorsed by the Eastern Economic Association and by the National
Economists Club, and it received highly favorable reviews. Several
organizations sent their employees to the seminar to meet their annual
training requirements in leadership and ethics, and seminar attendees
accordingly receive a certificate of expertise. Not only will the
seminar provide a wide range of insightful presentations, but will
engage the audience in provocative and interactive discussions about
some of the most challenging issues that economists, in all fields, face
today.
Some of the distinguished speakers at the seminar will include:
* D. McCloskey, & G. DeMartino, /Oxford Handbook of Professional
Economic Ethics/;
* Agency Leaders: Erica Groshen (BLS), Keith Hall (CBO), and Brian
Moyer (BEA);
* D. Colander, /The Making of an Economist/, and many economics books
and textbooks;
* S. Ziliak, /The Cult of Statistical Significance /(with D. McCloskey);
* R,G. Anderson, former Vice President of the Federal Reserve Bank of
St. Louis
*Call of Papers on Ethics, Integrity, and Responsible Leadership in
Economics

Our association is proposing organized sessions for the conference of
the International Confederation of Associations for Pluralism in
Economics (ICAPE), at Roosevelt University in Chicago on January 5th,
the day before, and walking distance from, the AEA/ASSA meetings. Those
interested in applying to present a paper in an AIRLEAP session, or
interested in proposing an organized AIRLEAP session, should click on
the above link. All that is required for each paper application is a
300-word (or less) abstract, and there is no charge for the application,
though people must register for the conference.
With best wishes,
Board of Directors of the Association for Integrity and Responsible
Leadership in Economics:
Deirdre McCloskey (Chair), Richard G. Anderson, Amelie Constant, Mark
Costa, George DeMartino, Seth Giertz, Areerat Kichkha, Steven Payson,
W. Charles Sawyer, Stephen Ziliak
