INVITATION TO APPLY TO PRESENT LECTURE AT MID-ATLANTIC TRANSPORTATION
SUSTAINABILITY UNIVERSITY TRANSPORTATION CENTER (MATS UTC
<http://www.matsutc.org/>) ANNUAL MEETING - OPPORTUNITY FOR PRE-TENURE
FACULTY MEMBERS
The Mid-Atlantic Transportation Sustainability University Transportation
Center (MATS UTC <http://www.matsutc.org/>) will hold its first annual
meeting August 6-7 in Wilmington, Delaware. The purpose of the meeting
is to present results from the MATS UTC program, and to plan the future
research program of the center. In order to do so, we will hold a
special invited lecture session with selected pre-tenure faculty members
who are emerging leaders in the area of transportation sustainability.
We are inviting brief proposals to allow us to select one speaker in
each of the Center’s five focus areas:
·Sustainable Freight Movement
·Coastal Infrastructure Reliabilityt
·Energy Efficient Urban Transportation
·Enhanced Water Quality Management
·Sustainable Land Use Practices
The selected speakers will be asked to attend the meeting, present ideas
related to the area in a live invited lecture session broadcast as a
webinar on the first day and then actively participate in our meeting as
we discuss our research, education, and tech transfer/outreach plans
going forward. Travel, lodging, and meeting registration fees will be
paid by our Center.
To be considered, please send MATS UTC Managing Director, Dr. Emily
Parkany, emilyparkany at virginia.edu <mailto:emilyparkany at virginia.edu> a
short description of the topics you intend to share and discuss plus a
1-2 paragraph biography by April 24, 2015.
MATS UTC is the FHWA Region 3 University Transportation Center that
started July, 2014. The consortium is led by the University of Virginia
and also includes University of Delaware, Morgan State University,
Marshall University, Old Dominion University, and Virginia Tech. Please
