[phd.students.socioeco] How do you get Stata?

Hi All,  


Yesterday, I heard that we all have free access to the statistics package Stata?  Does anyone know how I can get it?  


Also,  has anyone tried a good online tutorial for R?   If so, is there a "quick and easy" (I wish) way of learning R basics?
