Dear Delegate,

The International Advisory Board is pleased to announce the Call for
Papers for the Seventh International Conference on Science in Society
and the Call for Submissions to The International Journal of Science in
Society. The 2015 Science in Society Conference will be held at the
University Center in Chicago, USA, from 1-2 October.

SPECIAL CONFERENCE FOCUS

Educating Science

At its most cogent and most productive, science is engaged, responsible
and accountable to the social world. It is integrally linked to agendas,
interests, values and ethical stances. These need to be declared and
exposed to examination, just as much as science's propositions about the
character of the natural-physical
<http://www.thesciencejobs.com/tag/physical>world itself. A constant and
searching investigation of human interests goes to the heart of the
question of the social credibility and ongoing viability of science. Our
focus theme for 2015 'Educating Science' is interested in how 'science'
educates and is educated by the social world. Within this dynamic, how
does the teaching of scientific methodologies help produce better
students, citizens and community leaders? And what are the feedback
loops connecting science and the social worlds of teachers and learners?

CONFERENCE THEMES

Proposals for paper presentations, workshops, poster presentations, or
colloquia are invited that discuss the broader themes listed below. In
addition to the special focus, paper presentations will be grouped into
one of the following categories for presentation at the conference:

Theme 1: The Values and Politics of Science

Theme 2: The Social Impacts andEconomics
<http://www.thesciencejobs.com/tag/economics>of Science

Theme 3: The Knowledge Systems and Pedagogies of Science
Special Focus: Educating Science

Presenters also have the option to submit completed papers to one of
fully peer-reviewed journals in The International Journal of Science in
Society. If you are unable to attend the conference, you may still join
the community and submit your article for peer review and possible
publication, upload an online presentation, and enjoy subscriber access
to the journal.

Proposals are reviewed on rolling deadlines. The final proposal
submission deadline to qualify for regular registration is 21 JULY
(title and short abstract). Proposals submitted after this day will be
accommodated in non-themed sessions at the conference or are eligible
for community membership registrations (no attendance at conference
required with community membership presentations).
