UK Trade & Investment works closely with British based companies advising on export and growth opportunities in Austria and Central & Eastern Europe as well as consulting with Austrian organisations about investment opportunities in the UK.

The British Embassy, Vienna, is developing an internship programme and this will be the first trialled position. The programme consists of line management, mentoring and training by doing as well as access to Foreign and Commonwealth Office training programmes and feedback sessions with Human Resources.

The programme seeks to provide students with an opportunity to complement their studies with hands on work experience through exposure to events, seminars  and administrative work, contributing towards the development of trade and investment links between Austrian and the UK. The successful applicant will work together with the team to drive our Trade and Investment targets and trade relationship development, providing insight into current practices within these trade sectors. Interns will also gain wider exposure to the Embassy’s work and have the opportunity to meet with people from the various missions within our Embassy structure.

The Embassy feels there is mutual benefit to establishing an internship programme and hopes to provide students with valuable work experience that will help prepare them for their future careers. We hope that  through our internship, students will both gain confidence in the working world and obtain marketable skills. For us, it will be an opportunity to develop our relationships with Austrian universities and to benefit from the new ideas and perspectives that students often bring.
