Digital Communication and Events Officer (LEIII)

A new vacancy has arisen for a Digital Communication and Events Officer at the British Embassy in Vienna.
Main Purpose of Job
·         To develop and implement all aspects of external digital communications for the three British missions in Vienna.
·         To manage and edit the UKinAustria website (in English and German).
·         To undertake strategic planning of outreach events on behalf of the three British missions
Line Management
You will be line-managed by the Press and Public Affairs Officer.
Main duties and responsibilities
·         To design and deliver digital campaigns and activity to achieve the three missions policy objectives, including the use of interactive space;
·         To write and edit content in German and English for the UKinAustria website;
·         To develop, script and produce photographic and video content for use on the website/the FCO's YouTube and Flickr and future channels;
·         To evaluate the success of web work, including the setting of key performance indicators, monitoring visitor statistics, feedback and participation;
·         To raise the profile of UKinAustria website with staff in the three missions, external partners and target audiences;
·         To work closely with colleagues at all levels who provide website content, with external partners and with the Europe Hub, who maintain the centralised content management system;
·         To strategically look at activities planned by the three missions and identify potential for cooperation and joint activities.
·         To suggest and drive forward outreach activities for the three missions
Essential skills and experience
·         Good editorial skills. Ability to write engagingly and convincingly on policy issues for the web and the UKinAustria website;
·         Fluency in written and spoken German and English
·         Interest in the UK, the UK's foreign policy, current domestic Austrian and international affairs;
·         Ability to design, deliver and evaluate events and online campaigns;
·         Good knowledge of a range of applications and software technology including social media platforms, content management systems, image editing software;
·         Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
·         Ability to respond flexibly and creatively to changing priorities;
·         Good organisational and project management skills.
Terms and Conditions
This is a locally engaged position in the British Embassy Vienna; it is not a diplomatic designated position. The position is subject to the local terms and conditions of British Embassy employees, available on request.

Monthly salary will be €2,234 gross, payable 14 times a year.
Selection will be by competence-based interview where candidates will be asked questions relating to their behaviour in specific circumstances, which they then need to explain with concrete examples.
The successful candidate will be required to undergo security checks and satisfactorily complete a probationary period of three months before his/her position is confirmed.
It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure they are legally able to work in Austria. The embassy is not able to assist with any visas or sponsorship arrangements.
