<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif"">Nach arbeitsreichen Wochen des Einpackens, Übersiedelns und des Auspackens, in denen knapp 26.000 Umzugskartons bewegt wurden, sind wir am neuen Campus angekommen. Bereits
seit 20. August ist das Study Service Center als zentrale Anlaufstelle für studienrelevante Fragen im 2.OG des LC für Studierende geöffnet. In den nächsten Tagen und Wochen werden die letzten noch ausständigen Einrichtungen und Services ihren Betrieb am Campus
aufnehmen. Falls Sie bereits Gelegenheit hatten die neue WU zu besuchen, haben Sie schon einen ersten Eindruck von der Größe, der imposanten Architektur und den vielfältigen Möglichkeiten unseres Campus erhalten. Wenn das Studienjahr 2013/14 in den nächsten
Wochen beginnt, werden wir uns gemeinsam hier einleben. Gleichzeitig werden auch in den nächsten Wochen laufend Fertigstellungsarbeiten im Gange sein. In diesem Zusammenhang ersuche ich Sie um Verständnis für etwaige kleine Startschwierigkeiten, denn auch
für die Lehrenden und die Mitarbeiter/innen der Serviceeinheiten und der Universitätsverwaltung ist Vieles neu und ungewohnt.

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif"">Der Campus bietet zweifelsfrei eine Vielzahl neuer Möglichkeiten und Angebote – insbesondere für Sie als Studierende/r: Rund dreimal so viele Arbeitsplätze in Selbststudienzonen
wie am alten Standort, modernste Hörsaalausstattung, Lounges und Plätze zum Verweilen in und außerhalb der Gebäude, zahlreiche Lokale, Sporteinrichtungen und vieles mehr.

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif"">Dies führt mich zu einer wichtigen Bitte: Der sorgsame und nachhaltige Umgang mit allem, was der neue Campus uns bietet, ist ein ganz zentrales Anliegen der WU. Dies beginnt
bei Themen wie Mülltrennung und –entsorgung oder der verantwortungsvollen Nutzung studentischer Lern- und Arbeitsplätze, umfasst aber auch Aspekte wie die Vermeidung von Vandalismus, etwa durch das Hinterlassen persönlicher Spuren an Wänden, auf Tischen und
Ähnliches.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif"">Der Campus ist nicht nur für uns, sondern für zahlreiche nachfolgende Generationen an Lehrenden, Studierenden und Mitarbeiter/inne/n der Serviceeinrichtungen und Universitätsverwaltung
gebaut. Die wichtigsten Bestimmungen zur Nutzung der Campus-Infrastruktur sind in einer für alle Universitätsangehörigen geltenden Hausordnung zusammengefasst:

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif"">Zusätzlich gibt es für ausgewählte Bereiche, wie etwa die Lehr-/Lernräume- und –flächen oder die Bibliotheken, die Hausordnung ergänzende Nutzungsbestimmungen. In diesem
Zusammenhang möchte ich insbesondere auf die Regelungen hinsichtlich der Buchung und Nutzung von Lernräumen und –flächen hinweisen. Erstmals an der WU werden Sie als Studierende/r ab Anfang Oktober die Möglichkeit haben, selbst Projekträume etwa für Gruppenarbeiten
oder gemeinsames Lernen über das Online-Tool „Rooms“ zu buchen. Um einen reibungslosen Ablauf und Missbrauch der Buchungs- und Nutzungsrechte zu vermeiden, werden wir Ihnen dafür umfassende Nutzungsinformationen zur Verfügung stellen. Detaillierte Informationen

<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif"">After busy weeks of packing, moving, and unpacking, during which approximately 26,000 moving boxes were transported to our new location, we have now completed
our relocation to the new campus. The Study Service Center – the central service unit for study-related questions located on level 2 of the LC building – already opened its doors on August 20. In the coming days and weeks, the last remaining units and service
centers will start their activities on Campus WU. Those of you who have already had a chance to visit the new campus have gotten a first impression of its size, its impressive architecture, and the many possibilities it offers. As the 2013/14 academic year
will get underway in the next few weeks, we will all settle into the new environment. At the same time, final construction work will still be done on campus. In this regard, I would like to kindly ask you to excuse any minor initial problems that may occur.
Please keep in mind that the teaching staff and the staff of our service centers need to get used to a new and unfamiliar environment as well.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif""><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif"">The campus doubtlessly offers a wide range of new services and facilities – especially for students: there are three times as many self-study workplaces as on
the old campus, auditoriums with high-end equipment, lounges and places to linger indoors and outdoors, numerous restaurants, sports facilities, and much more.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif""><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif"">This brings me to an important request: making careful and sustainable use of all campus facilities is a central concern for WU. This includes waste separation
and the responsible use of self-study workplaces as well as aspects like anti-vandalism awareness (e.g. avoiding the defacement of walls, tables, or other surfaces).<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif"">The campus has not been built for us alone, but also for many future generations of faculty, students, and administrative staff. The most important rules and
regulations regarding the use of the campus and its facilities are summed up in the WU House Rules (available in German only):

<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif"">In addition to the House Regulations, there are also special regulations that govern the use of teaching and learning rooms and spaces and the libraries. In
this context, I would like to point especially to the regulations that are in place for booking and using learning rooms and spaces. Starting in October, WU students will for the first time have the possibility of booking project rooms for learning groups
or collective learning via the online booking tool “Rooms.” To avoid problems and abuse, we will provide you with detailed information on how to book and use learning rooms and spaces. You will receive further information on this topic in the upcoming issue
of the <b><i>update!</i></b> campus newsletter.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
