“hopeless continent” has also been dubbed the “continent of hope”. But the question remains, for whose hope – and gains?</span></p>

several of the emerging global players were mainly reproducing old wine in new bottles. The shift from the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at a closer look seems less of a paradigm shift than we are made to believe.

of recent tendencies on the African continent. It seeks to explore the scope and limitations of the trajectories currently visible. To which extent are the socio-economic and political aspects of present developments in Africa indeed a promising sign of true
social progress and for the benefit of whom?</span></p>
